BUILDING THE MIX ROOM
Behind the scenes on the audiophile's dream room

CREATING THE PERFECT ACOUSTIC PROPERTIES
– The Mix Room is 16’ wide by 30’ long and created using a room within a room design.
– Each of the walls and the ceiling are covered with Acoustical Solutions Sound Suede material.
– All surfaces except for the front shell, back wall and floors are 70% vented directly into the Rockwool acoustic insulation to create an absorptive tight room.
– The front soffit enclosures are packed with Rockwool acoustic insulation and in the two front corners behind the main left and right channels are Auralex Bass Traps from floor to ceiling in front of the Rockwool corners.
– The M-shaped vaulted ceiling is vented and packed with Rockwool acoustic insulation.
– The floor riser at the rear of the room is packed with 4,000 pounds of sand to deaden it.
– The rear wall is rough stone to create a diffusive surface.
– The rear corners of the room contain floor to ceiling Auralex Bass Traps in front of the Rockwool corners.
– The ATC SCM-50 speakers are suspended and isolated from the structure of the room.
– All of the other speakers are all hung on monofilament line, isolating them from the structure of the room.
– The subwoofers are soffit mounted and isolated from the structure of the room.
– The Mix Room has its own dedicated power panel, which separates the audio devices onto a single phase, while other panels and circuits balance the system before the main Mix Room.
– The system utilizes twenty 20-amp circuits. Each of the eight Crown K-2’s, the Bryston 2B-LP’s and the four ATC Amplifiers use separate power circuits. There are eight dedicated circuits to power the amplifiers.
– The Mix Room has a PS Audio Power Plant 20 power regenerator system that converts 20 amps of AC to DC and then converts the DC back to pure AC. This system is used for the AMS Neve Genesys 64-channel, 128-input console, the 80 channels of A/D and 80 channels of D/A in the AVID MTRX high resolution converters, and the 16 core Mac Pro.
– The Lighting system utilizes all Philips Hue LED technology, with each of the 22 fixtures being individually or group programable for both brightness and color.
We can program the lighting for any mood or color desired.
– The Mix Room is flat at the mix position and is tight room with a short RT.
– A calibrated test mic is available at the primary mix position and connects to Smaart Live v8 to verify the system performance.
